NIGHTLIFE
Much of Cape Verde’s nightlife is low-key and often hotel based, the local’s are laid back and chilled during the day but at night they release their party animal. Their philosophy is ‘the more the merrier’ and there is always a party going on. Whether you wanna getting down and shake your stuff to some live music at a bustling bar or quietly sip your ponche (firewater laced with honey) at a lively café.
You are always welcome to join a party and the more locals you talk you, the more invitations you'll get party. Whatever you do, don’t leave without experiencing 'the most beautiful music on earth'. The unique Cape Verdian Morna music is seductive, with upbeat latin rhythms that'll have you up-n-dancing no matter how tone deaf you are.
Santa Maria has a great mix of quiet beach bars or two where you can completely chill and just enjoy the sound of the waves and, a handful of vibrant pubs filled with a great mix of tourists and locals alike.
