IMPORTANT: The windsurfing & Surfing outlines below are aimed at beginners at both sports. However, we also offer windsurfing & Surfing combo packages for intermediate & advanced boardriders including combo equipment rental packages that can be designed around your ability.

WINDSURFING & SURFING TUITION
The beginners teaching programmes have been developed according to the VDWS (International School Association for Watersports) and FFS (French Surfing Association) standards and guidelines. The lessons provide a proven step-by-step approach to learn windsurfing and surfing safely and quickly. The instructors are all VDWS and FFS qualified.
WINDSURFING FULL BEGINNER COURSE
NEWBIES & BEGINNERS WINDSURFING COURSE
The course is designed to help you take your first steps into a new sport and hopefully fuel an addiction of a lifetime. You will receive all the theory and practice necessary to get you up and sailing on your own. You will go from being a beginner to an intermedaite windsurfer during this course.
ENTRY REQUIREMENT
This course is aimed at those who want an introduction to windsurfing and who have never tried it before. No Experience is required but you need to be able to swim 50 meters in open water.
DURATION
7.5 hours (usually theses are 1.5 hour sessions, split over 3 or 4 days)
GOAL
In no time at all you will be on the water sailing alongside your instructor in the safety of the bay. You will quickly learn correct sailing stance, grip, board control and basic steering. You will learn how to tack and how to stay upwind.

SURFING BEGINNER COURSES
NEWBIES & BEGINNERS SURFING COURSE
This course is designed to help you take your first steps into the 'sport of kings' and you will receive all the theory and practice necessary to get you up and riding your first wave to the shore. You will cover all the theory and practise
ENTRY REQUIREMENT
This course is aimed at those who want an introduction to surfing and who have never tried it before. No Experience is required but you need to be able to swim 50 meters in open water.
DURATION
Full course: 20-25 Hours (split over 5 days)
Introduction course: 8-10 Hours (split over 2 days)
GOAL
The main aim of the Beginners Surf Course is get you up and riding waves in a safe and fun environment. The surf course at this level covers the following Surfing Essentials:
• Beach safety, currents/rip tides, Weather and Wave formation
• Equipment - How to handle it in the water
• Proning, stalling and accelerating board
• Paddling techniques
• Popup/stance refinement
• Catching broken waves
• Take-off (straight)
• Safe Wipe-out technique
• Turning right or left
• Paddling “outside”
• Position in line-up, wave selection, and timing
• Catching green waves and angled take-offs.
• Surfing etiquete
By the end of the course you should have experienced the rush of riding a green/broken wave safely to the shore.

This German watersports accreditation ensures that you are taught by qualified instructors using proven teaching techniques & that all the courses follow the latest safety guidelines for accredited schools.

SURFING INSTRUCTORS & SURF COURSES

All the surfing instructors at the Costa Teguise Surf School are qualified FFS Fédération Française de Surf professionals. This French surfing federation accreditation ensures that you are taught by qualified surf instructors using proven teaching techniques and that all the courses follow the latest safety guidelines for accredited surf schools.
The FFS is governed by the French ministry of sports and is a European Surfing Federation and International Surfing Association member. |
SURFING INSTRUCTORS
The Costa Teguise surf school is also a member of the École Française de Surf the governing body for accredited surf schools in France.

The instructors have years of experience as surfers & surfing instructors and are accustomed to coaching at different levels. They have all the necessary skills & experience to help newbies & beginners to progress to a level where they can become independant surfers. The instructors are multi-lingual & speak a good level of English. |
WATERSPORTS SAFETY
Your safety is our prime concern, the Lanzarote Watersports Center offer a low student-to-teacher ratio and the have a rescue vehicle (Zodiac) at their disposal at all times. The center has the latest safety systems as well as helmets and life vests.
