In 1965 Hoyle Schweitzer and Jim Drake developed the first 'windsurfer' combining surfing and sailing, it seems as if Windsurfers have been coming to Fuerteventura ever since. If you windsurf you just have to experience the strong winds and powerful surf of Fuerteventura at least once, it's a pilgramage worth it's salt - tap the source.
The aim of the 'Learn to Windsurf' holiday is to give people a safe and fun introduction to windsurfing. At the end of the sessions you will have learned the fundamentals of windsurfing and depending on your ability and fitness you should know the basics i.e. fast tacking, harness, launching and landing technique, gybe and beachstarting. The Windsurfing Academy in Fuerteventura North is located in Corralejo and all the windsurfing sessions take place on the beaches around Corralejo and the lagoon on the North Shore.
There are two possibilities for your windsurfing holiday accommodation. Both are located in the resort of Corralejo within walking distance of the beach and village reef breaks. YOUR 1 WEEK LEARN TO WINDSURF HOLIDAY INCLUDES
• 7 nights self catering Windsurfing accommodation
• 5 days Windsurfing Lessons
 3 days (12 hrs) beginner course + 2 days (8 Hrs) renewal course.

Dates
The Fuerteventura North Windsurfing Academy is open all year round as Fuerteventura will deliver suitable
wind for beginners and
intermediate ability windsurfers all year. However if you are an experienced windsurfer the
summer months (April - September) are best. See wind stats for more info.
The courses are also run on a continual basis with groups of not more than 6 people per course. The beach in front of the Windsurfing Centre is and intermediate to advanced spot and offers good cross-shore (from the left) conditions from March/April through to August/September.
