Our base for the guided surfaris is the picturesque coastal village of Loredo in the Ribamontan al Mar area of Cantabria. The village lies across the bay from the historic and capital city of the region Santander. This area is blessed with miles of golden sandy beaches/coves and lies in the green foothills of the 'Picos de Europa' a towering mountain range that seems to sweep western Cantabria towards the sea. The water is clean and the atmosphere is great. This is the birthplace of Spanish Surfing and our guided surfaris are run by local surfer Mario and his father "Meco" a pioneer of surfing in Spain and a local legend.

Late spring, summer and autumn are ideal times to visit as the surf is consistent and the climate is pleasent, becoming warmer during the summer months. There's good quality beach breaks and a world class reef break within easy walking distance of our base. In addition the lush green coastline that stretches from the Basque country in the east to Asturias in the west offers miles of sandy beaches, hidden coves, river mouths, reefs and points... and the further you venture into this countryside the thinner the crowds become and the vibe in the water tends to be friendly. These factors combine to make Cantabria a perfect surf destination for experienced surfers who want to explore and surf one of Spains most beautiful coastlines with a local surfing family.

DATES & AVAILABILITY

Guided Surfaris are operated from April to October and places are subject to availability at time of booking. This coastline receives enough swell during this period, however for more experienced surfers we recommend Spring and Autumn as the surf is generally bigger and more challenging.

The 3 Star Hotel was built and opened in 2004 and although modern in design it still pays homage to the traditional Cantabrian architecture. The hotel is located in the edge of the village only a short walk away from the beach, the surf, the village centre and local amenities.

The hotel comprises of 38 rooms, spread over 3 floors. There are single, double, twin and triple rooms available to guests. All rooms have private en-suite bathrooms and some are equipped with hydro-massage showers. The hotel is owned and managed by a local family who will help make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The hotel is also very popular with people learning to surf which creates a nice vibe and atmosphere.

The hotel is set in it's own grounds and has a private outdoor swimming pool and terraced area. There is also ample off road private parking.
