SURFING IN LOREDO - SURF SPOTS
The breaks east of Loredo are set in pristine countryside and are protected by a headland. The breaks around Galizano ans Suances are some of the finest in Europe and as they face north westerly they pick up loads of swell. The spots around Oyambre are set in a national park and have a laidback feel about them, this coast is jagged with loads of coves and inlets - there is always a wave somewhere.
A huge advantage of surfing in Cantabria is the thin crowds. A lot of the breaks are out in the countryside and during the week there are plenty of almost empty peaks, the locals (except at a few 'hot spots') are friendly and laidback.
The surf spots mentioned below are where the Learn-2-surf courses are run and by no means even scratch the surface of the waves and breaks that litter this coastline. Advanced and Experienced surfers should certainly check out some of the famous Cantabrian surf spots including: Isla de Santa Maria, Playa de Canallave, Playa de Valdearenas, Playa de Robayera and Playa de Usgo.
