If you have the time, the drive down from Madrid is an interesting drive and is just - 260 miles to Granada or Cordoba, 340 to Seville. Drive through the medieval towns including Toledo (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and the region of La Mancha (where Don Quixote famously fought a windmill and embarked on dangerous quests for his imaginary love Dulcinea. GETTING AROUND

Intercity transport is a pretty straightforward, whether you opt for buses or railways, but if you want to explore any of Andalusia's countryside, you will want to get wheels.

Airport Transfers

Transfers are available but are not recommended. Car hire is super cheap and is a great way to explore the area.

When you book your Learn-2-Surf holiday, surf clinic, guided surf trip or book your Accommodation with us, you get FREE car hire, which can be picked up from whichever airport you fly into.

Upon booking you will be e-mailed or faxed detailed directions from the airport to the resort. You will also be greeted by the surf school staff in order to settle you into your accommodation.

TRAINS

The Spanish railway network is run by the state owned company RENFE. International trains from France terminate at either Madrid or Barcelona. From there you can catch a train to many of the cities in Andalucia. See more information, routes and route maps here.

There are four different services:

Alta Velocidad (High Speed)
Including the magnificent AVE which runs on a special line from Madrid to Cordoba and Seville. (under 3hrs)

The Talgo 200 train
* Madrid to Malaga (4.5 hrs)
* Madrid to Cadiz (5 hrs) and Huelva (4.5 hrs)
* Madrid to Algeciras (6 hrs)

Grandes Lineas (Long Distance)
Services from Madrid and Barcelona direct to the major cities in Andalucia

Regionales (Regional)
There is a network of regional trains that stop at the smaller intermediate stations en route

Cercanias (Local)
These stopping trains operate on the following routes:
* Malaga to Fuengirola ( Calling at Malaga airport)
* Malaga to Alora
* Seville to Cazalla-Constantina
* Seville to Loria del Rio
* Seville to Utrera
* Cadiz to Jerez de la Fronterra

Andalucia Express
The Al Andaluz express is a special train which offers high quality service in refurbished coaches built in the early part of the 20th Century. The excursions in the summer visit some of the popular cities of Andalucia.
