SURFING INSTRUCTORS
The surf school in El Palmar also uses professional BSA - British Surfing Association qualified surf coaches and instructors. The instructors have years of experience as surfers & surfing instructors and are accustomed to coaching at different levels. They have all the necessary skills & experience to help newbies & beginners to progress to a level where they can become independant surfers. The instructors are multi-lingual & speak a good level of English.

NEWBIE & BEGINNER SURF COURSES
The Surf Lessons and Surf Courses have a low student to instructor ratio for safety and to ensure you get the attention you need on dry land and in the water. All participants are placed with an instructor who specializes in teaching at a particular level.
The training program is specifically developed to guarantee success in surfing and includes, muscle specific exercises surfing different wave types and surfing in different conditions. This will help you develop confidence and improve your surfing.
NEWBIES & BEGINNERS
As a beginner you will be taught all the basics you need to know. The outline below is a rough guide to the courses for beginners and intermediate surfers. How much of this you will cover will depend on your ability and the duration of your course. There are courses form 1 day to a full week:
• Beach awareness & safety introduction.
• Explanation of equipment
• Paddling technique
• Catching waves
• Standing up / popping up to your feet
• Controlling your board
• How to stand up & ride your waves into the beach
• acceleration/stalling techniques
• Pop-up & stance refinement
• Turning
• Forehand / backhand maneuvers
• Style development
• Surf awareness
• Linking turns together
• Technique enhancement
• Waves that are out of depth / out the back
• Linking together bottom and top turns
• Paddling out techniques
• Techniques to get through lines of whitewater
• Riding green / unbroken waves
• Sitting on your board
• Angled take offs
• Wave selection and timing
• Turning on the wave face (fore and back hand)
• Positioning in the line-up
• Use of rip currents
• Wave selection and timing refinement
• Use of hard boards
Besides the practical aspects mentioned above you will also learn the theory you need to understand wave types, swell and wind conditions, currents & rips, the difference between reef, point and shore breaks, etc.
You will have 5 days of lessons per week (One 2 hour session per day)

INTERMEDIATE OR ADVANCED SURFERS
If you're a competant surfer looking to spend some quality time in the water surfing breaks with few crowds then why not let the local surf guide search for, and drive you to, a break that matches your surfing ability. The surf guides are there to make your trip run as smoothly as possible and will always try to be helpful and informative.
The surf guides services include:
• Finding the best available surf in the area.
• Take care of all the driving, so you can sit back and relax.
• Advising you on activities in the area, tips on bars, restaurants etc.

SURF CLINICS
Surf clinics are available for any level of surfer who requires the constant undivided attention of a professional surf coach. The 1-on-1 tuition means you get to develop at your own pace and get personalized error correction, style tips and advice.
SURFING EQUIPMENT
The Surfboards and Wetsuits used by the Surf School in El Palmar are specifically designed for beginners and intermediates with safety being the key factor.
Beginners will use boards specifically designed for both stability and safety. Intermediates will use boards which provide a good blend of stability, manouverability and performance.
The instructors will select a board suitable for your size, weight and ability. All the surfing equipment is checked and maintained on a regular basis to ensure you have the best material at your disposal.
There are three types of surfboards that will suit all performance levels:
Soft deck 'Foamies' ideal for those who are new to the sport of surfing.
Bic Evolution boards a wide range of boards available for intermediates.
Custom boards are also available and these come from an expert shaper in Bilbao (Chris Hunt) and these are available for advanced surfing.
The wetsuits provided are 3/2mm and are ideal for the water temperatures in Andalucía.
