WHAT'S ON OFFER IN J-BAY?
This is a rough guide to some of the activities on offer in J-Bay and the surrounding areas. As a general rule I've skipped over things like a visit to the seashell museum and professional lace-making ;-) just because these don't appeal to me personally, if that's your thing you'll need to discover these gems for yourself.
WILDLIFE
This area of Africa is home to lions, rhinos, elephants, buffalo, leopards, whales and more. This is a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with Africas Big 5 and the real bonus here is that, unlike most other game viewing areas in Africa, the Eastern Cape is a malaria-free.
The Seaview Game and Lion Park thirty minutes drive
The main attraction here is the lions. All the lion cubs born at the Park are hand-reared and may be handled by the public. The Park also offers the unique experience of close-up Game-viewing. More than forty species of wildlife incl. Giraffe, Zebra, Wildebeest, Impala, Duiker and Monkeys roam free.
Lombardini Game Farm located close to Jeffreys Bay
See Rhino, Giraffe and more than 18 species of buck that can be seen on Mountain Bike or Game Drive.
Addo Elephant National Park, roughly an hours drive
Addo is a sanctuary to over 420 elephants, 450 Cape buffalo, black rhino and a variety of antelope species, For the first time in over 100 years, lion and spotted hyena were reintroduced to the park last year.
NIGHTLIFE
If you're from Spain or Latin America or the kind of person who only starts looking for a party at 1 am, J-Bay is going to seriously dissapoint. I must admit that I wasn't looking too hard for a party as surfing all day had pretty much sapped all my energy. If there is anyone out there who has some serious party tips or insider info, I will gladly admit to my mistake and update this page immediately.
Your best bet for entertainment is to get yourself invited to a 'Braai' by one of the local surfers. To call this a BBQ is a serious understatement, both is scale, diversity and social significance. A braai is a great place to hang out, meet other surfers and women and generally consume too much of everything. You have to try the 'Boerewors' this local sausage defies description! Don't forget to take an offering of local brews (Castle or Lion Lager) along.

Sandboarding
Sandboarding is pretty popular, you can sandboard in the dunes at J-Bay and this can be arranged at short notice.
Bungy jumping 1,5 hour drive
Bloukrans Jump – the world's highest
This is the ultimate thrill! Recognised by the Guinness World Records as the highest commercially operated Bungy Jump in the world. You will be secured in a full body harness and proceed to walk along a specially designed catwalk (216m long), which is suspended beneath the road surface, which will then lead you to the top of the arch - 216 meters above the Bloukrans River. Here you will be given final instructions by highly experienced staff, a countdown and off you go! Bloukrans utilizes pendulum bungy technology ensuring you the smoothest, most comfortable bungy jump possible.
Flying Fox
This is the NEWEST adventure at Bloukrans! A 200m cable slide ('foofie slide' for South Africans) out onto the archway of the bridge! The quickest way to get to your bungy jump destination. But if the bungy is not for you – this is a great alternative adrenalin rush all on its own. Do it by yourself or a tandem with a friend or partner.
