SURFING INSTRUCTORS
The instructors that run the Surf Lessons and Surf Clinics have years of experience as surfers and surfing instructors and are accustomed to coaching at different levels. They have all the necessary skills and experience to help newbies and beginner surfers to progress to a level where they can become independant surfers. The instructors are multi-lingual and speak an excellent level of English.
BEGINNER & INTERMEDIATE SURF COURSES
The Surf Lessons and Surf Clinics have a low student to instructor ratio for safety and to ensure you get the attention you need on dry land and in the water. All participants are placed with an instructor who specializes in teaching at a particular level.
The training program is specifically developed to guarantee success in surfing and includes video analysis, muscle specific exercises surfing different wave types and surfing in different conditions. This will help you develop confidence and improve your surfing.
NEWBIES & BEGINNERS
As a beginner you will be taught all the basics you need to know
• Maneuvering the board
• Positioning and paddling
• Sitting on your board and turning techniques
• Duck diving techniques
• Paddling out
• Catching broken waves or white water
• Catching 'green waves' to shore
• Standing up on the surfboard
• Surfing safety and priority rules
Besides the practical aspects mentioned above you will also learn the theory you need to understand wave types, swell and wind conditions, currents & rips, the difference between reef, point and shore breaks, etc.
You will have 5 days of lessons per week (Over the weekend, you can use the schools surfing material for your own free surfing.)

INTERMEDIATE OR ADVANCED SURFERS
If you're a competant surfer looking to sharpen your cut-back, gain more speed out of the wave or land that floater... you will get all the coaching and tips you need. The minimum entry requirement for this Surf Clinic is that you can take-off on green waves and can bottom turn.
Expert tuition and tips and the opportunity to surf alongside your instuctor. Each day the surf instructor will search for, and drive you to, a break that matches your surfing ability. The instructors are there to make your trip run as smoothly as possible and will always try to be helpful and informative.
The surf instructors‘ services include:
• Finding the best available surf in the area.
• Take care of all the driving, so you can sit back and relax.
• Advising you on activities in the area, tips on bars, restaurants etc.

SURFING EQUIPMENT
The Surfboards and Wetsuits used by the Cortegaça Surf Camp are specifically designed for beginners and intermediates with safety being the key factor.
Beginners will use boards specifically designed for both stability and safety. Intermediates will use boards which provide a good blend of stability, manouverability and performance. Custom boards are available for more experienced surfers who are already comfortable riding a higher performance board.
The instructors will select a board suitable for your size, weight and ability. You will experience your first stand-up ride on a Malibu or Mini-Malibu and, depending on how quickly your surfing skills develop, you could try surfing an Evolution or Short board, which offer more maneuverability.
All the equipment is checked and maintained on a regular basis to ensure you have the best material at your disposal.

MEET THE TEAM
Miguel: manages and runs the Cortegaça Surf Camp.
A top ranking regional surf champion and a qualified surf instructor, Miguel has been surfing in Cortegaça and Portugal for 20 years and has an intimate knowledge of the area. His competition experience means he has a keen eye for detail, very important when coaching intermediate and advanced surfers. He knows exactly what is necessary for a surfer to improve their surfing.
