 Ericeira alone has at least five classic reef breaks (& loads of lesser surfed breaks & mellow beachbreaks) on its doorstep. Praia Ribeira D'ilhas is home to the annual ASP 6 star WQS event & often compared to Bell's beach in Oz, the waves here work in almost all conditions.

THE SURF
In terms of wave quality Ericeira has the advantage over Peniche, but lacks the flexibility and variety offered by the Peniche and Baleal peninsulas. Ericeira's coastline faces due west and is made up of a series of high quality reef breaks and occasional sandy beachbreaks.

WHO WILL IT APPEAL TO?
Ericeira is a small fishing village with typical blue and white azulejos (Portuguese decorative tiles) still adorn the house fronts. The tourism here is mostly national which also gives Ericeira a special flair. Ericeira is a far cry from the hustle and bustle of Lisbon and the tourist resorts, yet has a suprisingly lively nightlife.
