Intermediate and Experienced surfers
Foe experienced surfers, the surf at Punta Abreojos is amazing; a series of right point breaks with punchy bowls, reeling barrels and rippable walls. The point pulls in the summer south swells which are generally between waist high and a few feet overhead, with some days in the double overhead range. The point is located on the west coast of Baja but actually faces east, with waves wrapping around the point 180 degrees, and the predominant winds blowing offshore all day!
Intermediates, you can use this opportunity to correct any bad habits developed over time, perfect your style and learn new surfing techniques/manouveres. The instructors can help you learn how to duck-dive correctly so you can easily get outback, you can then learn about your position in the line-up, timing/wave selection and take-off. You can then work on improving your bottom turns and learn how to cut-back and use the pocket/power of the wave to increase you rides.
Progression = More waves = Progression!

Meet the team
Your Guides: Rick is your lead guide/driver/surf instructor. A native of San Diego, Ricks first surfing adventures happened in Baja California 13 years ago. There must have been some travel bugs hiding in the Mexican sand because that first trip south of the border was just the beginning of his travel obsession. He has now travelled and surfed in 9 countries and on 11 islands around the world. He speaks Spanish and Indonesian, as well as decent English ;-). He ran Surfing Lessons in Malibu, California for 4 years and shared the thrill of surfing with hundreds of surfing students. He is CPR and First Aid Certified and was also a member of the Univercity of California San Diego surf team. He is living his dream by taking people surfing in beautiful places in Mexico.
Pia is from Australia where she was a Registered Nurse for 5 years including one year on Aboriginal land in the remote Northern Territory. Aside from Oz she has lived in Europe and the U.S. and traveled extensively in Asia and Mexico. Pia is head chef on the Punta Abreojos Surf Expedition. She is wonderful at organizing gourmet camp meals that make you forget you are camping.
Additional Surf Instructors, CPR and First Aid Certified, will be present to maintain a ration of 1 instructor for every 4 surf students. This is to ensure maximum safety and fun.
