Hawaii (Also, historically, the Sandwich Islands) is located in the archipelago of the Hawaiian Islands in the Pacific Ocean. Politically, Hawaii constitutes the 50th state of the United States and is situated 2300 miles from the mainland.
The Hawaiian Archipelago comprises nineteen islands and atolls extending across a distance of 1,500 miles (2,400 km). The main islands are the eight high islands at the southeastern end of the island chain. These islands are, in order from the northwest to southeast, Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe, Maui and the Island of Hawaii (Big Island).

SURFING HOLIDAYS IN HAWAII
Hawaii is probably the one destination that needs no introduction. While cave men in the rest of the world were trying to get their head around the wheel, the ancient Polynesians were out surfing. Men, women and children were all out in the waves having a great time until the arrival of the missionaries who put an abrupt end to the general stoke and discouraged women from surfing as this interaction between men and women (in very little clothing) was deemed un-christian.
Hawaii, especially Maui and Oahu are the mecca of surfing and Hawaii has a world wide reputation for the sheer power and perfection of its waves. The waves of the north shore can be brutal but there are waves here for everybody, regardless of age or experience. Everyone can enjoy the warm water and weather - from the complete beginer to the reef scarred veteran.
