Aquitaine has a sunny climate, the whole of its west coast is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean giving Aquitaine its mild oceanic climate influenced by the Gulf Stream.
The Bordeaux region gets over 2,200 sunshine hours per year making it similar to the Mediterranean in climate. Rainfall is distributed over the whole year and this factor together with the sunshine is one of the reasons Aquitaine is such a famous wine growing area.
