SURFING HOLIDAYS IN THE CARIBBEAN (NORTH AMERICA)
GUADELOUPE SURF SPOTS
Guada, and Grande-Terre in particular, are littered with cracking surf spots, the geography and situation of the islands and their orientation mean they pickup NorthWesterly, Northerly, Easterly and Southerly swells!
The spots below only represent the best known spots, it has never been our poicy to reveal secret spots, local surfers deserve some places to call their own. But having said that, your surfari guide knows every spot on the island, knows when they are breaking and when it's OK for you to paddle out.
SURFING IN THE NORTH
Port Louis and Anse Bertrand regularly work from December to April, on Northwesterly to Northerly swells generated by depressions over the North Atlantic.
SURFING IN THE EAST
The surf spots on the east of the island, in Moule and on the Northern coast of the Pointe des Châteaux work all the year round, however swells are more consistent from September to November, when cyclonic depressions create powerful swells and from December to April with Northerly swells.
SURFING IN THE SOUTH
The surf spots along the south coast of the Pointe des Châteaux, and in Saint François and in Sainte Anne work on Easterly and Southerly swells which are generated by the Alizé wind which blows from December to June. These spots also work consistently from August to November on Southerly swells created by tropical depressions.
Your surf lodge accommodation in Saint François is a 5 minute walk from the small, but long and consitent, right-hander of Vieux Port, perfect for beginners. A 5 minute bike ride from Anse à la Barque a hollower wave suitable for intermediate and advanced surfers.
