SURFING INSTRUCTORS & SURF COURSES - ST. FRANÇOIS, GUADELOUPE

All the surfing instructors at the Guadeloupe Surf School are qualified FFS Fédération Française de Surf professionals. This French surfing federation accreditation ensures that you are taught by qualified surf instructors using proven teaching techniques and that all the courses follow the latest safety guidelines for accredited surf schools.
The FFS is governed by the French ministry of sports and is a European Surfing Federation and International Surfing Association member. |
SURFING INSTRUCTORS
The surf school is also a member of the École Française de Surf the governing body for accredited surf schools in France.

The instructors have years of experience as surfers & surfing instructors and are accustomed to coaching at different levels. They have all the necessary skills & experience to help newbies & beginners to progress to a level where they can become independant surfers. The instructors are multi-lingual & speak French as well as a good level of English. |
SURFING TUITION
The surf teaching programme was developed by the surf school and over time the courses have evolved and the team have achieved high success rates at getting people riding waves in a safe and fun environment.
DISCOVER SURFING Course Outline
The best way to discover surfing! By the end of this 5 day taster program, you will have learned the surfing fundamentals including beach safety and more importantly you will have experienced the rush of riding your first waves! You will then be ready to take you surfing to the next level should you wish to pursue this Polynesian 'art of kings'.
Your 5 day surf course will cover:
Beach safety, currents/rip tides, Weather and Wave formation
Equipment - How to handle it in the water
Proning, stalling and accelerating board
Paddling techniques
Popup/stance refinement
Catching broken waves
Take-off (straight)
Safe Wipe-out technique
Turning right or left
Note: Please be aware that surfing is progressive and depending upon your ability/aptitude to learn, stamina and weather/wind conditions you may cover some but not all of topics outlined above during this 5 day taster course.

SURFING EQUIPMENT & SAFETY
The Surfboards and Wetsuits used by the Guadeloupe Surf School are specifically designed for beginners and intermediates with safety being the key factor.
Beginners will use boards specifically designed for both stability and safety. Intermediates will use boards which provide a good blend of stability, manouverability and performance.
The instructors will select a board suitable for your size, weight and ability. All the surfing equipment is checked and maintained on a regular basis to ensure you have the best material at your disposal.

KITEBOARDING TUITION
The kiteboarding teaching programme has been developed according to the EFK (French Kitesurfing Schools) standards and guidelines. The lessons provide a proven step-by-step approach to learn Kiteboarding safely and quickly. The instructors are all FFV Fédération Francaise de Voile qualified.
DISCOVER Kiteboarding Course outline
The best way to discover kiteboarding! By the end of this taster program, you will be ready to move to the next step: getting up on the board! The first part of this program will take you through the steps of piloting a 2 or 4 lines kite, and body dragging in the water. You will also learn about safety and how important it is to the sport. Furthermore, you will be taken through the steps of equipment set up and launching and landing.
Some of the aspects of kitesurfing your course will cover:
Equipment Setup
How to determine wind direction
Therory about the wind window
Piloting at the top of the window with short or long lines
Launching & landing at the edge of the window with an assistant
Untwisitng lines by rotating the boom
Conduct a thorough pre-flight check
Launching and landing a kite by yourself
Piloting the kite in the power zone
Working with the kite in the power zone to generate a steady pull
Rig a 4-line kite
Rig and adjust a 4-line de-powering system
Pilot a kite with the harness
Piloting in the power zone and generating a steady drag on land
Water start technique on land
Body dragging without a harness
Note: Please note that kiteboarding is progressive and depending upon your ability/aptitude to learn, stamina and weather/wind conditions you may cover some but not all of topics outlined above during this taster course.

KITEBOARDING SAFETY
Your safety is our prime concern, we offer a low student-to-teacher ratio and the kiteboarding academy have a rescue vehicle (Zodiac) at their disposal at all times. The center has the latest safety systems as well as helmets and life vests.
