SURFING TUITION

The intermediate and advanced surfing teaching programme has been developed according to VDWS (International School Association for Watersports) standards and guidelines. The lessons provide a proven step-by-step approach to learn surfing safely and quickly. The surf school is a recognized VDWS center.

INTERMEDIATE surf CLINIC

ADVANCED BEGINNER TO INTERMEDIATE SURFING COURSE

This 6 hour course is designed to help you achieve your next personal level and covers some of the trickier aspects of surfing that require professional coaching.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT

To be on this group you don't need to be world champion. You just need to know the basics. This course is aimed at those who have surfed before or followed a beginner course at some time. This way you don't have to go through all the basics again.

DURATION

6 Hours

GOAL

The focus of this group is on your individual surfing. Once you have learnt how to take off on a wave, you start to develop your own style and this is when timely error correction will ensure that your surfing develops quickly and properly.

The surf course for intermediate to advanced surfers covers:
• Brief surfer diagnoses
• Quick review of surfing basics
• Techniques for paddling and turning for waves (tricks and tips)
• Priority rules (review)
• How a surfboard works
• Types of waves and approach to apply to each of them
• The 'Bottom turn' and its importance for wave riding success
• The importance of the upper body for bottom turning.
• 'Duck dive' techniques
• The 'off the lip'
• The 'cutback'
• General surf manoeuvres

COURSE LOCATION

The clinics and courses are held at various surf spots on the island depending on the swell, wind and wave conditions.

The Cape Verde Surf School is a recognized VDWS (Internationaler Schulverband für Wassersport) center. This accreditation ensures that you are taught by qualified instructors using proven teaching techniques & that all the courses follow the latest safety guidelines for accredited schools.

Cape VERDE SURFING INSTRUCTORS

The Surf school owner is a VDWS instructor and he has trained all the instructors here. The instructors have years of experience as Surfers & surf instructors and are accustomed to coaching at different levels. They have all the necessary skills & experience to help newbies & beginners to progress to a level where they can become independant Surfers. The instructors are multi-lingual & speak English, French, German, Italian and Portuguese.

SURFING SAFETY

Your safety is our prime concern, the Cape Verde Surf School offer a low student-to-teacher ratio and the have a rescue vehicle (Zodiac) at their disposal at all times and the center has all the latest safety systems.
