A ROUGH GUIDE TO THE SURF SPOTS AND WAVES OF ITACARÉ
There are more than 10 surfing spots around Itacaré. The great thing about these breaks is that they range from mellow, easy beach breaks to big tubey waves breaking over shallow coral reefs.
Good waves all year around in Brazil
In Brazil climatic conditions are always in flux, the weather can change at any time which is bad in some ways but it also means a big swells can hit any time of the year. Due to its undulating ocean floor and geographical conditions, Itacaré is considered one of the best places to surf in Brazil.

Summer (December-March)
Summer is generally when you get small swells, wave size varies between 1m to 1,5m. Sometimes a winter type swell kicks in, the heat is intense and the wind blows on-shore in the afternoons. Luckily the wind is always offshore early in the mornings, which helps create Itacaré's beautiful tubes.
The streets of Itacare are full of tourists and foreigners, it's a melting pot of cultural diversity and the night life is wild, though not as good as the swells that arrive in March and mark the start of the true surfing season.

Autumn (March-June)
In Autumn the waves vary between 1 and 2 meters. The big advantage of this period is that the surf crowd is thinner and there are fewer tourists on the streets. The weather can be sunny as well as cloudy.
Winter (June-September)
Predominantly medium and big waves, between 1 and 3m. The temperature can get as low as 20ºC but this is the season when Itacare turns into a real 'Surf City' attracting the best Brazilian surfers. The variety and consistency of Itacare breaks offers different kinds of waves for different abilities. The crowd is small on 'big' days and in the mornings
(did we mention that the nightlife gets pretty wild ;-)

Spring (September-December)
Conditions similar to autumn. Waves get smaller but you can expect glassy perfection especially in the morning. It gets crowded only on weekends so you can take advantage of the morning offshore wind to catch some nice glassy tubes.
Beaches
'Engenhoca', 'Rosende' and 'Tiririca' are just some of the beaches where the Brazilian circuit events ('Super Surf Brasileiro') take place each year. And what better way to enjoy Itacare to its maximum than with the 'Itacare surf Experience' adventures with comfort and style.
