THE SURF
The coast of Mozambique is a surfer's paradise. There are no crowds and waves going off everywhere. Surf spots include 'The Sand Spit' aka 'The Mozam Super bank' and 'The mile long right' This wave hits the sand bar and runs along the beach as long as you can keep up and/or stay on your board. Barrels of ten seconds and more are common. When this wave is firing there is nothing like it anywhere in africa!
The water temperature is warm all year round, so the most you are going to need is a spring suit. On hot days in summer and winter you will be quite comfortable surfing in boardshorts.
SEASONS
The most consistent surf is to be found in the winter months, from May through to August, mainly due to the cold fronts that sweep up the coast, bringing solid six to eight-foot swells. There is also consistant surf to be had during the Cyclone season January to April. Tours operate during both these seasons.
