KITESURFING HOLIDAYS IN PORTUGAL & THE ALGARVE
PRAIA DA LUZ & LAGOS NIGHTLIFE & ACTIVITIES
We cant tell you how to party (chances are if you need to look here for advice you are not a party animal) but we can point you in the right direction. The Praia da Luz accommodation is a 5 minute drive from Lagos (10 euros by taxi) and Lagos is a party town, the Portuguese really know how to get down and they do until all hours of the morning. Remember though that kiting, surfing, diving, wakeboarding and mountain biking with a serious hangover could be a recipe for disaster.
PARTY IN LAGOS OR CHILL IN PRAIA DA LUZ?
If youre up for it, its a great party town with plenty of good restaurants and fun bars where drinks are very cheap compared to northern Europe. If your days activities have left you too exhausted to lift you taxi-hailing arm, you could just chill out at your accommodation with friends or take a walk into town and enjoy a couple of beers at one of the relaxed local bars. The nightlife in Praia da luz is pretty low-key and there are numerous traditional restaurants offering excellent, inexpensive seafood, simple salads, crusty bread and local wine. There's also a good cross section of international restaurants available, including Indian, Italian and English. The three beach bars serve fresh fish at unbeatable prices.
LAGOS
The town of Lagos has it all, pictoresque cobbled streets and back alleys, lively bars and clubs and excellent restaurants. Actually Lagos has some of the best nightlife in the Algarve and you really should get out amongst it at least once during your stay.
RESTAURANTS
There are a huge assortment of restaurants and cafés catering to all tastes and most of them offer great food at very reasonable prices.
A Forja on Rue dos Ferreiros serves good traditional Portuguese food at moderate prices.
Mullens on Rua Cândido dos Reis 86, near the cinema is a laid back kinda place with an excellent menu of fish and meat dishes and when the last of the diners leave it doubles as a popular watering hole.
Only Fools and Horses on Praça Luis de Camóes is great for those travellers who just can't leave the UK without taking their HP sauce along. Steak and Kidney pies, Sunday roast, full English breakfasts and football o the big screen. If this is your idea of heaven then, Fools & Horses is a must.
BARS & CLUBS
Eddies Bar on Rua 25 de Abril 99 is popular with the young holidaymaker crowd and is loud and heaving. DJ Toby Millage regularly mans the turntables here.
Stones on Rue 25 Abril 101, is a popular bar playing rock music.
Club Reciclagem on Rua Marreiros Neto has 2 floors: One playing 70's disco hits and the other 80's pop and other more chilled music. There is also an outdoor terrace.
The Millenium Club on the outskirts of Lagos heading toward Porto do Mós, is a proper nightclub and has some good DJ's.
