Kiteboarding Holidays in Essaouira - What to bring

Please find below our recommended clothing list for kitesurfing trips to Essaouira, Moulay Bouzertoun, Sidi Kaouki and Morocco. From our experience, this list will be adequate to cope with the demands of traveling in Morocco.

Quick links: Travel Essentials | Kitesurfing gear | Clothes | Handy stuff | Personal grooming ;-)

Travel Essentials

• ID/Passport
• Airline Tickets & Vouchers
• Money belt/pouch
• ATM Card and some cash*
*It's very difficult to get Moroccan Dirhams outside of Morocco as the currency cannot leave the country. There are plenty of exchange offices and banks and you can also exchange currency at the airport. A couple of things to consider:
• As you cannot take Dirhams out of Morocco, make sure you spend all your Dirham coins before you go through customs.
• Make sure you always carry enough Dirham coins because change is often required for small traders, parking etc. and exchange on the street against the law.
• Withdrawing cash is easy at ATM's and banks in the cities to a maximum of 2000 Dh. Cash machines only operate during business hours.

KITESurfing Gear

All the kitesurfing equipment you'll need can be hired on the ground in Essaouira, Sidi Kaouki or Moulay Bouzertoun. The only thing we'd recommend bringing along would be:
• Wet & Dry Bag
• Rash Guard - Short or Longsleeve
Optional beginners and experienced Kitesurfers: Spring wetsuit (short arms and short legs) Most people will not need a wetsuit, however if you get cold easily and you want to kitesurf for long periods of time, you may want to bring a spring suit. Alternatively a suit can be hired along with your gear.
