THE WIND
From as early as March to mid to late September the trade winds "Los
Alisios" start to blow from the North East and the winter
groundswells die off providing a variety of kiteboarding conidtions
ideal for beginners and kiteboarders looking to progress. For
the rest of the year the island still has good wind statistics
and there are plenty of waveriding conditions for more advanced
riders.
Playa Famara on the north west coast of the island is the
best all round
spot and is suitable for all levels including advanced wave
riders. The 5km sandy beach overshadowed by
the "Los Riscos" cliffs the north end of the bay
provides typically
cross-onshore conditions, with a mellow shore break and flatter
waters on the inside section. Out
back more advanced
riders will find a wide range of challenging wave riding
conditions.
THE LANZAROTE KITEBOARDING EXPERIENCE
The 'Lanzarote Kiteboarding Experience' is loacted in
the sleepy fishing village of La Caleta de Famara.
Picture this! Whitewashed houses fronting onto dusty
roads with tumbleweed blowing across them set against
a backdrop of vast desert area overlooking a horsehoe
shaped bay protected by a spectacular cliff range.
You'd think you were in Mexico, not Europe!
Lanzarote has a small hardcore group of kiteboarders,
the vibe is good and crowding is not yet an issue.
The IKO accredited and Naish Pro kiteboarding
Center is owned and run by 2 freeriders who
started kiting in the bay when the sport was in
its infancy. They live to kite and enjoy nothing
more than to introduce people to kiteboarding and
help people take their kiting to the next level,
using their local knowledge and proven techniques
developed by the IKO. All kiteboarding instructors
are IKO Level 2 qualified and the center has a wide
range of kiteboarding equipment from leading kiteboarding
brands and 2 water rescue vehicles at it's displosal.
There are 2 choices of Accommodation available.
Single travellers or people travelling on a restricted budget who want to meet
other people will prefer to stay in a shared apartment with a private room
in the small fishing village of La
Santa. All apartments are a short walking distance to local amenities,
bars, restaurants and have views to some of the best waves Europe has to
offer.
If you have deeper pockets and would like to be
located closer to the kiteboarding center then our
private apartments in the picturesque fishing village
of La
Caleta de Famara are a good option.

WHO WILL IT APPEAL TO?
The pleasant all year round climate, balmy water temperatures,
spectacular unspoilt kiting locations, good wind statistics,
progressive and challenging kite conditions plus short flight
times from most UK cities combine to make Lanzarote a suitable
destination for all levels of kiteboarders throughout the
year. There's also some classic spots hidden away waiting
to be ridden by those of you who are prepared to explore
off the beaten track...
