KITEBOARDING SPOTS IN LANZAROTE
Lanzarote with it's ideal weather conditions is perfect for kiteboarding. The best wind conditions for experienced airheads is during the summer (March to November) when the Passat wind kicks in.
Famara
Located on the north west side of the island, Famara is a 5km long beach that is at it's best when the Passat wind blows from the east or a low pressure wind comes from the south during the winter. The waves can be demanding (sideshore wind conditions).
Playa Honda
Situated about 3kms south of Arrecife and close to the airport. This spot is dominated by strong Passat winds and flat sea conditions.
Mirador del Rio
To get to Mirador del Rio you can take a ferry to La Graciosa and rent equipment and get a zodiac to drop you off at Mirador´s beach. However, kiting here withouth a recue vehicle is not recomended and this spot for level 3 kiters only.
Other spots
Obviously we have not listed all the possiblities above. But these are the spots we can suggest without putting yourself in danger. The rest are either too small or dangerous for kiteboarding and we dont recommend kiting anywhere else.
In terms of what to wear in the water, wintertime visitors from northern Europe will be comfortable with a very light full suit or shorty, while summertime is boardshorts or bikini weather.
