KITESURFING & SURFING - MULTI-ADVENTURE HOLIDAY

The Kiteboarding center is VDWS and IKO (International Kiteboarding association) accredited while the Surf School is an official BSA (British Surfing Association) accredited center. This means you are guaranteed professional tuition with particular attention paid to your safety. The teaching programmes have been developed according to BSA, IKO & VDWS standards and guidelines. The lessons provide a proven step-by-step approach to learn surfing and Kiteboarding safely and quickly.

Note: All the courses offer you the flexibility to develop at your own pace, different people develop at different rates according to fitness and aptitude, however you'll find below a rough outline of our 1 and 2 week surf & kite courses:

1 WEEK SURFING & KITESURFING COURSE - A ROUGH OUTLINE

The aim of the 1 week combined kite and surf holiday is to give you a safe and fun introduction to both boardsports. At the end of the sessions you will have learned the fundamentals of both boardsports and you can decide which one you prefer and would like to pursue further.

KITESURFING course 2 days (8 hours)

Start days: Any | Start time: 11.00am

Day 1
• Introduction to kites with a look at different types and sizes.
• Rigging up (inflation, connecting lines, harness and how it works).
• Launching (off the beach).
• Landing (on the beach).
• Basic Flying movement, explanation of the window, etc.
• Getting kitted out (choosing the wetsuit, bouyancy aid, crash hat).
• Finally bodydragging downwind and gaining confidence in the water.

Day 2
• This day kicks off with another bodydrag session, followed by:
• Waterstarting
• Kite recovery from the water
• Downwind sailing

At the end of the course, students will be assessed and then accredited with the Kiteboarder Card form the IKO stating the level achieved during instruction. This can be used to further your instruction at any recognised IKO center.

KITEBOARDING SAFETY
Your safety is our prime concern, we offer a low student-to-teacher ratio and have a rescue vehicle (Zodiac) at our disposal at all times. The center has the latest safety systems as well as helmets and life vests.

SURFING course 3 days (12 hours)

Start days: Any | Start time: 11.00am

The BSA Qualified surf instructors aim to have you standing up on your board after only 3 days! During these 3 days you will learn how to stand up as well as primary water safety. You will spend 3-4 hours in the water every day learning technique, board control, paddling and of course 'wipe out' survival ;-).

In addition to this you will also be given theory lessons on types of breaks, surf board design, equipment, history and water safety. Course covers:
• Beach safety, currents/rip tides, Weather and Wave formation
• Equipment - How to handle it in the water
• Proning, stalling and accelerating board
• Paddling techniques
• Popup/stance refinement
• Catching broken waves
• Take-off (straight)
• Safe Wipe-out technique
• Turning right or left

SURFING SAFETY
Your safety is our prime concern the following surfing safety precautions:
• Soft skinned surfboards are available for novices to use.
• All surfing instructors are at least BSA Level I Accredited Coaches
(which includes an open water lifesaving qualification).
• Trainee/Assistant coaches are supervised by an accredited instructor.
• An Instructor is responsible for no more than 8 pupils in the water
• All surfboards have suitable leashes (ankle straps).
• Suitable life saving aid is near at hand whilst pupils are in the water.
• A first aid kit is available at the beach.

2 WEEK SURFING & KITESURFING COURSE - A ROUGH OUTLINE

Please note that the 2 week Surfing and Kitesurfing holiday includes full surfing and kitesurfing courses.

KITESURFING course 4 days (14 hours)

Start days: Any | Start time: 11.00am

Day 1
- Introduction to kites with a look at different types and sizes.
- Rigging up (inflation, connecting lines, harness and how it works).
- Launching (off the beach).
- Landing (on the beach).
- Basic Flying movement, explanation of the window, etc.
- Getting kitted out (choosing the wetsuit, bouyancy aid, crash hat).
- Finally bodydragging downwind and gaining confidence in the water.

Day 2
This day kicks off with another bodydrag session, followed by:
- Waterstarting
- Kite recovery from the water
- Downwind sailing

Day 3 & 4
Now it's into the boat and out to the open water:
these two days you will enjoy two 3 hour boat sessions practising your board and water work and practice your downwind sailing

By the end of this course you should have gained your IKO level 2.

• Beach safety & familiarisation with Equipment
• Paddling technique and proning in whitewater
• Catching a wave
• Standing/popping up
• Board control

Day 2
• Theory and practice
• Paddling & take off technique
• How to stand up/ride a wave to beach
• Pop up/stance correction

Day 3 & 4
• Theory and practice
• Take off technique in whitewater
• Pop up/stance correction
• Acceleration/stalling techniques

Day 5, 6 & 7
• Theory and Practice
• Take off and riding Green Waves
• Techniques for paddling out/getting through waves
• Sitting on board
• Straight and angled take offs (Front/Backhand)
