By the end of 2008 we will be offering kitesurfing holidays in the Iberian peninsula including Tarifa in Spain and Guincho in Portugal. At the moment our focus is on the on the Spanish Canary islands of Lanzarote, La Graciosa, Fuerteventura and Tenerife. These islandsmake up part of the Canary Islands Archipelago each has a different character and vibe. Contrasting landscape and breathtaking scenery.
These islands were all shaped by intense volcanic activity that was both a blessing and a curse. The deep ravines, lush valleys, rugged canyons, golden sand dunes, and white-sandy beaches are all products of their volcanic past. Lanzarote, La Graciosa, Fuerteventura & Tenerife are the perfect island destinations for kiteboarders wanting to escape the snowy European winter and people wanting an adventure holiday. Waterports are the primary recreational activity in the Canary Islands and these islands get the best waves and wind of the whole chain.
The Islands of Lanzarote, La Graciosa, Fuerteventura & Tenerife boast some of the best beaches in Europe where you can surf, windsurf, kitesurf and dive to heart's content. Volcanic craters, pertified lava rivers, and miles of golden sand dunes offer exciting and unusual visual treats to people visiting the Canary Islands.

Lessons take place on Playa Famara Beach, a spectacular 5 kilometer sandy beach on the northwest coast of Lanzarote. Wind from March until late September. Courses are intensive & thorough.

WHO WILL THE CANARY ISLANDS APPEAL TO?
The strength and consistency of the wind, the pleasant climate all year round, excellent tourist facilities and short flights times from most European cities combine to make the Canary Islands a suitable destination for all levels of kitesurfers all year round.
The NE trade winds blow throughout the year, although they tend to move up & down the Atlantic.The best time to visit the Canary Islands is during the summer which is the windy period. In summer the sea tends to be flat and the wind at its most consistent. The trades can start to blow as early as March and you have wind until November.
Around Fuerteventura and La Graciosa you have wind acceleration zones where the wind is either funnelled between mountains, or islands and where the wind can sometimes increase to as much as 8 - 9 Bft. Beginners can learn to windsurf all year round as there is usually enough wind even in winter to run newbie and beginner courses.
